Ending, Continuing, or Awakening?
Paperback Book
First Edition. 173 pages.
Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.
This book contains an edited excerpt on death from a five-day academy class, On Death and Dying: Ending, Continuing, or Awakening?
The excerpt begins with a question about the difficulty of really looking at our identification with the ego thought system. Our resistance to looking inevitably leads to anxiety, fear, and pain. Kenneth discusses the importance of seeing the horrid nature of the world as part of one's process in studying A Course in Miracles. He reads and discusses the section in the Manual: What Is Death? where it is stated that "death is the central dream from which all illusions stem" (M-27.1:1).
Through other readings, questions, and discussion, Kenneth helps students understand that death is a thought in the decision-making mind, independent of what seems to occur in the projected body. What prepares us for physical death is the daily practice of right-mindedly choosing the Holy Spirit's forgiveness as our life's meaning, rather than the ego's judgments and attacks. In this way, physical death becomes a joyous end to a classroom of learning, not a punishment for sin.
The edited transcript is not verbatim to the portion of the edited audio recording from which the excerpt has been taken.
