The Unconscious Mind focuses on the nature of the split mind as the dreamer of the dream, the dream being comprised of both the ego thought system and the world that is its effect. Thus the world "is the outside picture of an inward condition," reflecting our mind's choice to identify with either the ego or the Holy Spirit. Seen through Christ's vision, the world becomes a classroom in which we learn to see sameness instead of differences, the healed perception that is the meaning of joining. In this way, the decision-making mind is restored to our awareness so that we can choose again and awaken from the dream.

"Peace to Such Foolishness!" is based upon a sentence from workbook Lesson 190, and its focus is on the pain caused by the mind's decision to identify with the ego's thought system of guilt demanding punishment. Only by recognizing the self-destructive suffering inherent in our mistaken choice to be a body can we say, "Peace to such foolishness!" By our mind's rejection of the ego's worship of the body through pleasure and pain, we are able to choose the Holy Spirit's forgiveness, returning the mind's awareness to the joy, holiness, and light of Christ that is our natural inheritance as God's Son.
