As many of us approach the season of Thanksgiving, it may be helpful to reflect on what Kenneth and the Course have to say about common themes associated with the holiday, such as gratitude, abundance, and sharing. And so we are suggesting two publications this month. In the first one, Kenneth explores both our ingratitude, which got us into trouble in the first place, and our gratitude, which becomes increasingly our experience as we release our grievances through forgiveness. In the second one, Kenneth's inspiring final full-length Academy class from July 2013, he discusses the importance of accepting the wealth that our inner Teacher is offering us and then sharing that abundance with all our brothers and sisters.

OUR GRATITUDE TO GOD

Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

The theme of gratitude is discussed in this workshop in the context of our gratitude to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and each other. The many forms of our resistance to being grateful are discussed in depth, and are shown to stem ultimately from the original separation thought, where we resented God's having created us, and insisted instead that we created ourselves. Our everyday expressions of gratitude, therefore help us to undo this original error.

THE COMMUNITY OF LOVE

Kenneth Wapnick, Ph.D.

This five-day Academy class is built around two central themes, taken from two quotations. The first is a statement made by the great conductor Wilhelm Furtwängler: "…the most important thing for a performing artist was to build up a community of love for the music with the audience… ." The second comes from an old Spanish proverb: "He who would bring home the wealth of the Indies must carry the wealth of the Indies with him."
