Seminar Description

The choice that we make for either the ego or the Holy Spirit always reflects our wanting–what we cherish and ask for in our heart (W.p1.185.8:1-2). For this reason, it is essential that we learn to look honestly, through the Course’s lens, at what we want, for we do receive it because of the power of our wanting. Furthermore, our desire for the ego is often buried beneath clouds of obscurity and denial, so that we can only become aware of what we value and are asking for by recognizing what we are receiving and experiencing. For, as Jesus cautions, “No one decides against his happiness, but he may do so if he does not see he does it” (T-21.VII.12:5). Until we want nothing other than the Holy Spirit’s gifts of inner peace and joy, we will continue to experience the effects of wanting the ego’s offerings in their various, disguised forms, all of which involve the body–and some of which may even go by the name of “love.” This program will explore, through readings and discussion, how we can make the consequences of our wish for the ego’s enticing deceptions more and more conscious, so that we may grow in our willingness to say “No” to the ego—for only then do we really mean it when we say “Yes” to the Holy Spirit (T-21.VIII.7:3-4).
