If we are honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that we believe our happiness and well-being depend upon and are affected by change. We seek changes we see as desirable and good, involving gain to us. We resist changes we see as undesirable or bad, involving loss to us. And whether we see specific changes as desirable or undesirable can change, depending on changing circumstances – hardly a stable state of affairs upon which to rest our happiness. To this hopeless situation, A Course in Miracles offers a way out – a different perspective on change: “Change is the only thing that can be made a blessing here, where purpose is not fixed, however changeless it appears to be” (T-29.VI.3:3). However, to accept this offer, we must be willing to change our focus from changing form (the body) to changing content (the mind). This program will explore, with readings and discussion, just what it means to change our purpose – the only change that matters – reflected in changing our teacher from the ego to the Holy Spirit or Jesus.
