Seminar Description

The Son’s mind, which God created one with Him (W-pI.95, W-pI.124), seems to have been twisted and distorted into so many separate, complex and conflicting shapes and forms (the world and our individual lives) that the simple truth of Who we are is no longer recognizable to us. It is the uncompromising nature of Jesus’ teaching on forgiveness that offers us a very simple solution for undoing all the twists and turns of the ego that have seemed to make the path back home to our one Self an exceedingly complicated maze. Forgiveness cuts through all the complexities of form—the world and our bodies—to the simple solution of choosing between the mind’s only two contents, and their teachers: the guilt and fear of the ego, or the innocence and love of the Holy Spirit. Yet we have great resistance to that simplicity. We find it difficult to accept that the solution could indeed be so simple, because the self we want to believe we are thrives on the complicated machinations by which we seek to define and build our individual identities. This program will attempt to help students, through readings and discussion, to look beyond the deceptive twistedness of the ego to the simplicity of the gentle undoing that Jesus is extending to us through his Course.
