One of the criteria the Course offers for determining whether something is of value is if it will last forever and not change (W-133.6). And yet everything we experience here—the good as well as the bad—does not last. We do not expect or believe that our experience could be otherwise—that’s just life. Our motivation to learn and practice the Course would increase if we recognized that pain is lurking behind even what we think of as good. The ego’s temporary happiness is really fear (T-22.II.3:5), its substitutes for love are really hate, freedom of the body is imprisonment, and the peace it offers really conflict. This program will explore this seeming paradox, as well as the truly happy alternative and how it can become increasingly our experience, through forgiveness.
